ABOUT
Carl Broesen is a Naarm-based designer and maker, working across furniture, lighting, and objects with a deep focus on material exploration and sustainable craftsmanship. His practice is rooted in the belief that design is both a poetic and functional tool—one that holds the responsibility to shape a more considered and sustainable future.
Fascinated by process and hands-on making, Carl thrives in the workshop, refining ideas through fabrication and experimentation. While completing a Bachelor of Design in Product Design, he immersed himself in the industry, working as a concept designer and fabricator alongside acclaimed designers such as Adam Goodrum and Patryk Koca. Since then, his experience has spanned architectural model making, furniture prototyping, and product development—each reinforcing his commitment to detail, materiality, and longevity in design.
Currently part of the design and production development team at Tait, Carl is involved in every stage of the design process, from initial concept to final execution. Alongside this, he continues to develop his independent practice, pushing material boundaries and reimagining waste through experimental processes to create thoughtful, functional designs. His work evolves at the intersection of craft, sustainability, and innovative design thinking.
